CareGiver Breaks
When I was caregiver for my mom, I found out how few resources are out there for caregivers. She didn't need a nurse, but she had moderate dementia. I just needed someone I trusted to come in and give her, her lunch or dinner and do some cleaning. Maybe sit and chat for a couple of hours just so she had someone else to interact with other than me, and to make sure she safely got to the bathroom or into bed and was given her pills at the right time.
I talked to her doctor and friends and they all had horror stories of strangers coming into their home and stealing things, eating the food left for the person they were supposed to be looking after or just not showing up at all, and they were hired through supposedly dependable services! They were also extremely expensive and you pay for their travel time also.
Caregiving is emotionally exhausting and at times, overwhelming.
I Am Not A Nurse, so I can't help you if your loved one needs medical care or has severe alzheimers but I have been through this and can offer Honest, Dependable, local based help when you need a break.
My services include:
Making sure your loved one gets meals and meds on time.
Gets to and from the bathroom safely and washed and "changed" if needed.
Cleaning, Laundry and Pet Care.
Positive interaction and projects geared towards each individuals abilities.
Time and scheduling for visits can be as short as an hour, 2 or 3 times a week or a couple of hours everday.
Due to the personal nature of the care I provide, I prefer to work mainly with women but if you have a gentleman that does not require "personal" care I am available to help with them also.
